Kathleen Coughlin, LSW and Associates are a group of private practitioners that provide counseling services for individuals, couples, and families. The practice offers services to young children (ages 3 +), adolescents, adults, and the elderly. Our professionals are available 24-hours a day - 7 days a week for our clientele. We offer on-site services in schools, alternative education settings, nursing homes, businesses, and assisted living facilities.

Kathleen Coughlin completed her undergraduate studies at Kutztown
University, and received her Master in Social Work from Marywood
University. Kathleen has been a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania since 2001 and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.  Kathleen provides clinical supervision to other social workers in the local area.  She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including: hospitals, residential, in-home therapy, school based, managed care, emergency room and outpatient. Since 2002, she has operated a private practice in the Lehigh Valley.

Gina Holmes is a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania. She completed her undergraduate work in Human Development and Family Studies at Penn State University. Gina completed her graduate work in Social Work at Marywood University. Gina provides therapy to individuals, adolescents, families and couples. She has extensive experience working within school based mental health settings with children and adolescents. Gina has specialized training to work with children who have been sexually abused as well as those who have abused other children. She uses both art and play therapy as therapeutic methods with children. Gina is a member of the National Association for Social Workers. She is very active in the community as she has been a volunteer for Big Brothers/Big Sisters for the past 10 years.

Bernard Mungin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in PA. He received his B.A. in Humanities and B.S. in Human Development and Family Science at The Ohio State University. In addition, he obtained his Master of Social Work at San Jose State University. Bernard completed extensive clinical training from the National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with the Veterans Administration in Menlo Park, CA. Furthermore, Bernard has worked with diverse populations in a variety of settings: community social work organization, Veterans Administration, hospital, transitional housing program, substance abuse program, and in schools. His professional interest focuses on anxiety, dual diagnosis treatment, and with Transgender, Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual issues. Bernard is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and serves as a Board Member at Mount Carmel House in Washington, DC.

Mark graduated from Marywood University’s Graduate School of Social Work and started practicing psychotherapy thirty years ago in Allentown, after which he moved to Southern California and became a licensed psychotherapist there. In 1982, in addition to his private practice, Mark and his wife added a social work component which provided social services to Home Health Care and Hospice agencies, hospitals, and long term care facilities. In 1988 Mark was accepted as a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians. In 1989 he was accepted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pain Management. In 1990 Mark studied Hypnotherapy and has used it in smoking cessation, stress and anxiety relief, and pain management. In 1999 Mark was instrumental in the development of a hospice agency in Southern California, and continues to consult with that agency to supervise and train the Ancillary Services Staff. He is also certified as an Advanced Bereavement Facilitator through the American Academy of Bereavement.

Mark returned to the Lehigh Valley in January 2005, became licensed as a psychotherapist in Pennsylvania, and is once again practicing psychotherapy where he began this process.

Karen Mallatratt is a Licensed Social Worker who has over a decade of clinical experience working with families, couples, and individuals. Karen specializes in incest, sexual abuse, trauma, self-esteem and self-worth. Karen has designed and facilitated groups for these issues since 1989. Karen has worked within the context of the geriatric community assessing patients for Dementia and Alzheimer’s and she also provides grief and loss counseling. Karen has redesigned programming and developed treatment systems in acute psychiatric settings such as Fairmount and Brooke Glen Behavioral Health Hospitals. Karen also provides expertise in developmental issues and behavior management with troubled youth.

Carol A. Thomas earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA where she also received a Masters Degree in School Counseling. Carol completed her undergraduate work at The University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Natural Science. Carol is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and she is a Nationally Certified Counselor. Carol has over ten years of experience working with adolescents on concerns related to anxiety, anger management, drug and alcohol use, eating disorders, mental health disorders, and family disruptions. Carol is a professor with the International Institute for Restorative Practice where she teaches graduate courses in Restorative Practice. Carol has taught graduate courses in School Counseling at Duquesne University since 2003. Carol is an active member of the American Counseling Association, the American School Counseling Association, and the Pennsylvania School Counselors Association.

Angel E. McLaughlin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychological Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University. Angel is a member of the American Counseling Association, and several of its related Pennsylvania branches. Over the past 12 years she has worked in a variety of behavioral health settings such as hospitals, partial hospitals, outpatient clinics, day programs, group homes and community treatment. Populations served have included young adults, adults, parolees, families, and the brain injured. Her professional focus includes the awareness of multicultural dynamics within a therapeutic setting.

Christine is a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the States of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She has certification as a Substance Awareness Coordinator and in Student Personnel Services in the State of New Jersey. Christine has more than twelve years experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples who are experiencing distress from difficult life situations. She has provided therapy in outpatient, school based, and in-home settings. Christine is a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association, National Board for Certified Counselors, and the American Counseling Association.

Carolyn Thomas received her Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Rosemont College. Carolyn is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania and is a member of the American Counseling Association. Carolyn has experience in a variety of clinical settings such as Residential, Family Based, Behavioral Health Rehabilitative Services (BHRS) and outpatient counseling. Carolyn has worked with children, adolescents, adults, teens and families. Carolyn has specialized training working with clients that struggle with Depression, Eating Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorder and Bipolar Disorder.
